HOME / CASE STUDIES / 5G Telecom OCI Migration
A national 5G telecom operator in Thailand needed to modernize its on-premises infrastructure to support growing network demand. GYSP designed a secure and scalable OCI environment, migrated four different data platforms, containerized its microservices, and completed the production cutover without service disruption. The architecture was also designed as a repeatable migration blueprint for 11 more sites.
Project Duration
38 Weeks
Technology Used
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE), Terraform, Oracle Autonomous Database, OCI Streaming, OCI Cache, MongoDB, Microsoft SQL Server, Kafka, Redis, Oracle DevOps, Jenkins.
Country
Thailand

The existing infrastructure lacked the flexibility required for continued 5G growth.
MSSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and Kafka had to be migrated together.
Live telecom services could not experience production downtime.
Manual deployment processes were slowing releases.
The architecture had to meet Thailand’s PDPA and NBTC compliance requirements.
The first migration needed to become a reusable model for 11 other sites.
A mandatory two-week holiday freeze complicated the production cutover.

Designed a secure OCI Landing Zone aligned with the operator’s network, security, and compliance requirements.
Automated infrastructure provisioning through Terraform and Oracle DevOps pipelines.
Migrated MSSQL to Oracle Autonomous Database and MongoDB to ADB JSON.
Re-platformed Redis on OCI Cache and Kafka on OCI Streaming.
Containerized microservices and deployed them on Oracle Kubernetes Engine.
Used Blue/Green deployment to complete the production cutover without downtime.
Established disaster recovery and validated failover through a live DR drill.
Created reusable Terraform modules, runbooks, SOPs, test scripts, and migration playbooks.
